मारियो मोलिना एक मेक्सिकन रसायन शास्त्री थे जिन्होंने अपने शोध के दौरान ओजोन परत के नुकसान के लिए नाइट्रोजन ऑक्साइड और क्लोरोफ्लोरोकार्बन (CFCs) के जैसे ऑजोन नाशक गैसों की उपस्थिति का पता लगाया था। इन गैसों के उपयोग से संयंत्र और उड़ानों से ये विषाणु पूरी दुनिया में फैल गए थे।


मोलिना ने अपने शोध के लिए 1995 में नोबेल विजेता भी बना। वे अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बिल क्लिंटन के वैज्ञानिक परामर्शदाता भी थे। उन्होंने विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) के अध्यक्ष के रूप में भी काम किया था।


मारियो मोलिना ने अपने जीवन के दौरान जलवायु परिवर्तन और वातावरणीय मुद्दों पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया। वे शिक्षण और जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए काम करते रहे। उन्होंने अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का एहसास दिलाने के लिए उनकी भाषा में अपने विचार व्यक्त किए।
